The project involves the study and creation of 3 emblematic parks -Local Parks, Neighborhood Parks and District Parks:
19 Local Parks – 19 Local Parks with Playground – 6 Neighborhood Parks – 6 Neighborhood Parks with Playground – 3 District Parks As well as designing the Median Road with the Round-About.
The challenge of creating the Shama Abha District Parks or Neighborhood Parks or Local Parks was to keep construction to a minimum to reduce development impact on the parks’ natural landscape and the parks’ environment. The challenge was to have what is required, a better-quality construction with a cost-effective strategy over a facility’s life.
The Quatrofolio Architects’ design improved as requested, the physical and psychological health, strengthen the Shamal Abha communities, and make this city and neighborhoods more attractive places to live and work.
Taking into consideration the Shamal Abha character and climate, the landscape treatments translated the urban elements especially those with cultural, social or aesthetic significance, that contributed to the environmental quality and the sustainability of the project.
For a semi-arid climate such as the above mentioned one to ShamalAbhaand in an exclusive context such as the Shamal Abha’s Parks, trees and shrubs were selected in a way to have regard for potential maintenance requirements and to tolerate the heat the drought and pollution, the wind and the rain, in order to preserve the sustainability and uniqueness of the whole concept and context.
